Overview:
The Printmaking Department provides students with the skills and knowledge to create original artworks through the process of making prints. It emphasizes both traditional and contemporary methods, encouraging experimentation and conceptual development.
Key Techniques Taught:
-
Relief Printing – Techniques such as woodcut and linocut, where the image is carved into a surface and the raised areas are inked.
-
Intaglio – Includes etching, engraving, drypoint, aquatint, and mezzotint. Ink is applied into the recessed lines of a metal plate.
-
Lithography – Based on the repulsion of oil and water, this method uses a flat stone or metal plate.

Screen Printing (Serigraphy) – A stencil-based process where ink is pushed through a mesh screen.
